Some projects you deliver. Some projects deliver something back to you.
The Singapore Bicentennial was a national milestone. A once-in-200-years celebration of Singapore's history and identity. I was part of the WPP team that led the community engagement roadshow programme that brought the Bicentennial experience directly into heartland communities across the island.
Six roadshows. Six locations. Six sets of stakeholders, each with their own vision for what the experience should mean to their community. All under the full glare of a nation watching.
My role covered everything for these roadshows. The physical build, the structures designed to be dismantled and rebuilt six times, the manpower, the logistics, and the stakeholder management that came with delivering at a national level.
Every location had its own challenges. Every location had its own story it wanted to tell.
The moment I keep coming back to is a little girl asking about Elizabeth Choy, a war heroine who shaped Singapore's story. And an elderly gentleman who stopped to share what life was like when Singapore was just finding its feet. These were not just event attendees. They were the living thread between 200 years of history and the next generation.
To be part of something like this, bringing it to life, there is nothing quite like it. And there won't be again in my lifetime.
